# Data Organizer

> Group accounts, customers, projects and other data into the structure your reports follow, and manage versions of that structure.

The Data Organizer is where you group your data into the structure your reports follow, such as which accounts roll up into revenue. Your Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and other reports follow the active structure automatically. Every account sits in a group from the start: anything you haven't grouped goes to a system fallback group. Open it from `Data Organizer` in the sidebar.

## What you can group

| Category | What you group |
| - | - |
| Accounts | Accounts, into Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet groups. Covers all financial years. |
| Articles | Articles, in a hierarchy |
| Cost Centers | Cost centers, in a hierarchy |
| Customers | Customers. Shows each customer's invoiced value for the last 12 months. |
| Employees | Employees, sales representatives and time reporting users |
| Projects | Projects, split into sub-projects and grouped in a hierarchy |
| Suppliers | Suppliers, in a hierarchy |

## Accounts

Groups sit on the left, under the `Profit & Loss` and `Balance Sheet` tabs. Your accounts are listed on the right. To find accounts you haven't grouped yet, filter the list with `Fallback`. Click `Save` to keep your changes.

## Versions

A version is one grouping structure for a category. You can keep several and switch between them:

* `Default` is read-only. Your edits go to a copy.
* Only the active version is used to calculate your metrics.
* When you set another version active, everything downstream rebuilds on it automatically.

### Set a version active

1. Open a category, such as `Accounts`.
2. Click the version name at the top of the page, then click `Manage versions...`.
3. Open the menu next to the version and click `Set as active`.

To start a new structure, click `Create new version` in the same dialog.
